Created by the Canadian trio of Adam Perry, Duncan Christie, and Eric Lightfoot, Madrid is a psych-tronic style band that explores a wide range of sounds. The music of Madrid exploits a unique combination genres, primarily including Electro, Psychedlia, and Shoegaze, along with creative use of the guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums.
During their early days, Madrid realized significant attention from the media as the band's debut was featured on the BBC World News in 2003. Their follow-up to the debut, which was released on Aporia, was the popular "First Message EP," which can be heard by visiting Madrid the band's music info page.
dding to the publicity that fueled the band's career, Madrid's first single, "Reply (To Everyone)," was featured on the popular music website Spinner.com as well as on Pitchfork Media 2. Their music soon became more widespread and known throughout Canada and North America, and later Madrid shared the stage with world-renown artists like M83 and Friendly Fires. Madrid's first tour set off in November of 2009 as the band partnered with DJ Champion & His G-Strings to play a number of performances across Canada.
Madrid has inspired the work of many popular artists such as Ulrich Schnauss and The Cansecos. Both of these performers, as well as many others, have remixed versions of Madrid's music. Under YYZ Records & Awesome Music, Madrid released their highly anticipated "Original Message" worldwide in March of 2011.
